What to pack for a long weekend in Rome
We spent a long weekend in Rome in May and were lucky to have great weather the whole time. May is the start of the warmer season in Rome, and hot days aren’t guaranteed but are also not uncommon. During our trip, the days were around 24ºc while the evenings dropped to 12-15ºc, so while a vest or t-shirt was fine in the day, more layers were needed at night.
You’ll also find that you do a lot of walking in Rome. Even if you get the Metro, buses, or taxis between the attractions, you’ll be on your feet a lot walking around them so comfy shoes are a must.
Of course, you should always check the weather forecast for the time of your trip and pack accordingly. But here is what I packed for three days in Rome in May.
