How we spent one day in Verona
Verona is probably most famous as the setting for Romeo and Juliet, and a lot of tourists to the city are attracted by this fact. But Verona has a lot more to see than just the supposed house of Guilietta. It’s a small city with a long and rich history, and we only got to explore the surface as we stopped by on a day trip between Lake Garda and Venice. But thanks to its smaller size, it makes it the perfect place to explore in one day.
Here’s what you need to know about spending one day in Verona.
How to get to Verona
Verona does have a small airport nearby, but the easiest way to access the city is by train from one of the other major hubs in Italy.
We arrived by train from Lake Garda (approx 30 minutes) and went on to Venice (approx 1-1.5 hours) making it a very easy place to visit from either of these popular areas.
How to get around Verona
Once you’re in Verona it’s very easy to get around on foot. The walk from the central train station to the historic centre does take 35-40 minutes so you may prefer to catch a bus. But once you’re in the city centre everything is close and easily walkable.
